Dear Church Family,

 -  Don't miss the Baptism Service this Sunday, Feb. 26th at 9:30.
It will be great to celebrate this special occasion with Steve and Sally Dennee.

-   Also Game Day and Chili Cookoff this Sunday, February 26th, from 3:00-5:30
 Bring Board Games
to play and let us know if you have Chili that you can cook and bring for that day. It’s a fundraiser for the Senior Ministry Concert in late April

- Please keep praying
this week for our Children’s Director Search Committee and potential Summer Interns to help with the Children and Youth!

Last Sunday John Parrish preached on “I am the Light of the World”.
It’s a great study!

-  Thank you to everyone who gave support for the American Baptist Women’s medical missions project in the Congo.  $1,466 was raised! Wow! Great job!

- How to celebrate Ash Wednesday or the start of the Lenten season.

It’s hard to believe that Easter is only 7 weeks away.  Wednesday, February 22 starts the beginning of Lent.  Lent is a time we set aside each year to remember the love of God that is poured out through Christ Jesus on the cross for us in His death; and His defeat of death, sin, and Satan in Christ's death and resurrection that brings Eternal Life to you and me.

The ashes of this holiday symbolize two main things: death and repentance. “Ashes are equivalent to dust, and human flesh is composed of dust or clay (Genesis 2:7), and when a human corpse decomposes, it returns to dust or ash.”

With this focus on our own mortality and sinfulness, Christians can enter into the Lent season solemnly.  It also helps us to look forward in greater anticipation and joy to the message of Easter and Christ’s ultimate victory over sin and death.   Let’s remember to take time to pray this season and repent over our sins as well as depend on the Lord for forgiveness and for life both eternal and abundant!
 Sincerely,
 Pastor Chris Chambers
